Mid-West Forge is seeking a Sr. Product Quality Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio.
Summary: Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality control and quality assurance of processes, materials, and products. Plans and coordinates the quality assurance program designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards. Final objective quality audit between the manufacture and shipment of customer orders, with the primary objective being that only product that meets or exceeds customer expectations, documented specifications or otherwise known acceptable quality standards is released to the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists or conducts R&R studies in accordance with the requirements of Measurement System Analysis, Ref. Manual (AIAG).
• Designs and implements quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with other department managers.
• Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
• Develops/deploys new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
• Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
• Oversees MSA program to evaluate precision and accuracy of measurement devices and maintain suitability for application.
• Participate (with department head) in development of and maintenance of quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
• Investigates and addresses customer complaints regarding quality and maintains related database.
• Develops and maintains contacts with the customer base providing regular feedback to the organization relating to our performance.
• Lead root cause analysis such as 8D and effective resolutions.
• Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
• Performs internal audits of all departments when required.
• Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements.
• Plays an active role leading quality management teams within the organization.
• Prepares and maintains control plans and revises/audits floor processes, responds to customer’s quality concerns.
• Recommends and/or implements modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
• Primary liaison from quality team to provide direct technical support for new product launch activities (e.g. APQP responsibility for all in-house activities).
• Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
• Participates in the approval and accountability for scrap policy compliance.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Certified Quality Engineer preferred

• Ability to maintain, document and report objective evaluation of product quality
• Excellent organizational skills required to maintain detailed documentation and filing of quality records
• Ability to mentor and teach at all levels in the organization
• Strong project management experience
• Ability to work off hours as needed
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis and determine effective resolutions
• Ability to present data in effective formats to management, customers, vendors and plant personnel
• Strong problem solving techniques
• Ability to perform SPC and SQC
Other Qualifications:
• Heavy automotive industry experience is required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred and a minimum of ten years related experience
• Strong working knowledge of IATF16949
• Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing training and experience preferred
• Experience in a leadership decision making role
• Knowledge of forging, machining a plus
• Working knowledge of metallurgy
• Heavy APQP experience
• Experience with GD&T
• Extensive problem solving experience utilizing various tools such as 8D
• Ability to establish and maintain solid customer relationships
• Must be able to travel 10% of the time
• Must have intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office
